Been super busy recently, not just with cakes. I've been upgrading my website
creating a new logo, registered to do to wedding fairs this September and
October. I'm especially excited about those. Up to now I've only done wedding
cakes in a small way, but I thought I'd turn my hand and create some simple
stylish and contemporary wedding cakes. So the cake dummies have been bought, as
have the wedding magazines (purely for research purposes!). It's quite different
doing a wedding cake to any other, in most cases a wedding cake is the biggest
and most expensive a cake that anyone will ever buy. That's why it has to be
perfect in every way. Granted everyone's taste and styles are different but each
bride want the same thing, perfection! As a cake maker I try to achieve this
with all the cakes I make, there have been times when I've not been happy with a
cake and had to start from scratch. But I'd rather be happy with what I've made
than worry that I've not made any profit! (I might not be very good at business
for this reason!)
But I must say that despite all the cakes I've made
wedding cakes and carved cakes are my favourite to make.
My first wedding
fair is local in Adlington at "The Willows" situated at the Douglas Valley golf
club. A very picturesque venue.
It's been ages since I attended any wedding
fairs (7years since I was married) so I think I need to do some homework! I
will be trawling the wedding fairs at the start of September with lots of
hopeful brides. I wonder how many chocolate fountains I can spot?
In the mean
time I'm hoping to do a few more cake courses to hone my skills and keep up to
date with new techniques, I suppose ill have to find some time to sleep as well
:) ah well no rest for the wicked!
